give you any information you may need, I think there are descendants of

Letter from Mrs. Arthur Bowman, 810 S.W.Vista Avo., No.3, Portland 5, Ore.
"I appreciate very much your offer to help us tracing my Eliza Womack -
I have made six trips through the mid-west, East and South --
especially Va., Mo. & So. Carolina, Tenn., and Ky.
I am a member of the Womack Assoc. of McMinnville and enjoy the
bulletin. My Thomas Crawford McBride was born in Guilford Co., N.C,
son of Rev. private James McBride & a Miss Jackson, aunt of the
President Andrew Jackson. He was born in Jan 1777. He had a land grant
in White Co., Tenn and his children born there and in nearby Jackson Co.
He had a daughter and son, Jacob, born about 1798 and 1800. Then James
b 1802 and my gr gr mother Lavinia b 1804 and a son Thomas after that.
Then a daughter, Margaret b 1809 whose mother was Nancy. The family
left Tenn about 1814/15 through KY and on to MO. The first daughter
(probably named Charlotte) and Jacob died in Missouri. The rest of the
children when grown married and came to Oregon in 1846 & 1847. Old
Thomas was 70 yrs. Of age and rodeacross the plains horseback. He
married a third time in Ore., died 1856.
He was a preacher of the Christian Church. Since his first son was
named Jacob I have always thought Eliza's father was Jacob Womack.
There were several Jacobs in N.C., Tenn., & S.C. in 1790 census. The
one I have tried to trace was the Jacob Womack on the committee of the
Watauga Assoc. 1772/73 in Sullivan Co., Tenn. He later was stray master.
His land was a few miles from Bluff City, Sullivan Co.,. The records
of the Co. have been lost. He is not listed in those remaining.
On this Watauga Assoc. Petition are listed a large number not on the
committee and among them is another Jacob Womack, probably a son who
would have been nearer the age to have been Eliza's father as she was
married somewhere 1796 or 1797.
In those days marriage records were not always reported. I have
searched in all of the counties with no results.
The older Jacob was a Mayor when against the Cherokees and in Burke
Co, N.C. was recorded payments made to him for provisions given during
the Rev.
I have this older Jacob's history earlier than when he went to Ten.
but just can't find anyting in Tenn, Nashville or Knoxvilie, about him.
Went to Greene & Wash. Co., Tenn. but nothing there later than the
Watauga. There were Womacks in so many places. Several in Orange Co,NC,
early and later.
Fortunately I have the marriage of Thomas C. & Eliza written in
newspapers and an encyclopedia. I sent in my McBride line of James the
Rev. private as a supplemental line and will know by 0ct. if accepted.
I went into the DAR on my Rogers line.
Do you have any record beyond your Daniel born 1823. I have copied a
lot and will be glad to help you."
Letter from Lyle R. Frazer, 8~2 So. Christine, Wichita 18, Kansas.
"I am enclosing a resume of Richard. Only this summer was I able to
get a clue to his parentage. His father's name was EliJah. I have
quite an extensive file on the Womack name. Perhaps some of the
material could be applicable to your line."

Letter from Mr. Chester C. Womacka,-Rockwell City, Iowa, 26 Sept 1959.
"Your husbands name being Rees, I might say my youngest Uncle, Francis
Womacks married Harriet Reese on 8 Nov 1855 in Highland Co., Ohio.
He was born in Brown Co , Ohio; when I do not know.
Might say my grandfather, Terry Womacks, added the letter "s" to the
name. He was born in Westmoreland Co,, Va, in 1789 and died in Brown Co.,
Ohio 1849.
Have been working on genealogy some ten years and have some 400 names to
date. 1789 is as far back as I have found &ny relation.
Am 83 years of age; born and raised in this state. Married in
March 1900; have 3 sons and 3 daughters - all married and have
children. Will celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary next March -
if alive then.
A son in Alameda, Calif. married a girl by name of Dorothy Bowling
when he was in CCC Camp; this was in 1938"
Letter transmitted to me by Vra. J. H. Latimer from Urs. Wilsie Le Womack
Martin, 200 Ben Lomond Drive, McMinnville, Tennessee 28 Oct 1958. .
"Maybe Edra has written you that she and I are most interested in our
Womack genealogy. They have headquarters here and that way I am very
close to it and the president is a good friend Of mine. I have written
Dad and ask who his grandpa was but he isn't very interested and didn't
tell me who Daniel's (Dad's father) father was. We have Daniel Womack
born in St Helena Parish, La. on March 29, 1823 - died in Bosque Co.
Dec. 26, 1878.
Now who was his father, where born and when? We wondered if we were
descendents from Col. Abner Womack and his wife was Celia Ann Herron
of La. They had a large estate near Greensburg, St. Helena Parish.
Col Abner had 8 children: Henry Pryor, William, Abner Jr, Celia Ann,
Mildred (Millie), Pamela, Lucy and George W. We have who all these
children married and a list of all their children. One place has it
listed Jake Burton as being his son. There is in the record a
William B. Womack who left Central Mississippi before l850 and moved
to Jackson Parish, La He was known as Uncle Buck Womack, and is known
to be a brother or Uncle to Abner, Abraham, Jake and Daniel Womack.
The Uncle Buck married a Ellen Goynes of Mississippi and they had:
Marthy, Sarah Ann, Millie, Betty, William B., Adalinee, Mary,
Nancy, Rankin and Harris.
Maybe you have all this information but we wondered here if our
grandpa Daniel was the one mentioned in the record. I would like to
know and if I can connect past Daniel Womack I will know where to go
from there. The record goes back to England - King John in 1167-1216
- David Womack was the first mentioned and his son Abraham Womack
1782-1860 fought with Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans.
We have been corresponding with a T. G. Womack of Hammond, La. who
has done a great deal of searching and recording on the Womacks. He
is a direct descendent of the David Womack. He, his father, gr.
father and great gr. father have all lived on the same estate that
was given them from the Province of Spain. They have an old and
famous cemetery of his departed ancestors."
