Alta Mae Womack, 95, passed
away June 11, in Cornville She was
born Nov. 9, 1904, in Phoenix,
daughter of Arizona Native William I
Osborn and Mary (Etter) Osborn.
Osborn Road and Osborn School arc
named after her grandfather. She
graduated from the Normal School in
Flagstaff (now NAU) in 1924, taught
at Creighton School in Phoenix for
one year, and married Baxter
Womack in 1925. They were married
for 65 years. Baxter died in 1990. A
member of the Methodist Church
from childhood, she was an active
member and officer of the Federated
Church in Flagstaff and of Methodist
churches in Phoenix, Scottsdale,
Clarkdale, and Cottonwood. She is
survived by daughter Cora Mae
Tincher and husband, John, of Big
Bear Lake, CA, sons Don of
Scottsdale, Ed of Cottonwood, and
Larry of Las Vegas, NV, three
"daughters-inlove' Grace, Jean and
Jean, 12 grandchildren, 20 great
grandchildren, and 2 great-great
grandchildren. A memorial service for
Alta Mae will be held at Mountain
View United Methodist Church in
Cottonwood, at 1 pm on Saturday
June 24. Memorial contributions may
be made to Mountain View UMC, 901
S. 12th St., Cottonwood, AZ 86326,
for the scholarship fund.
