A large caravan of 40 families came from Bedford Co., Tennessee and settled north of Nashville, Howard Co.,Arkansas: Michael Womack - Sarah Jones Womack; C.W. Hale; Sarah Elizabeth Hale; Geo. W. Sullivan; Geo. and MillieWomack Chesshir; Jordan G. Reese, b. 4 April 1821; W.N.Allen, b July1837; David D. Womack; David D. Jones; Anthony Floyd; Andrew Jackson Hale; Richard Copeland; Tyler Bacon; Isaac Murray; Thomas McClure; John Bacon; Tom Holt; William Hutson; Thomas McFarland; Peter Coulter; and Thomas Parker, and others.
Pioneer Abram Wood had a sister, Katie, that married David Womack. It is said that Womack built the first residence on upper Fallen Ash; the place usually known as the Joe Rowden place, near the Noe graveyard. Womack was living there in 1830. Afterward, the family moved to what is now known as the Hull bottom on White river.

John S. PIERCE, actively identified with farming in White county for many years and now making his home at Russell, was born near Denmark in this country, November 16, 1859. His parents, Moses and Sallie Ann(WOMACK) PIERCE, were native of East Tennessee and in that state were married. The maternal grandfather of John S. PIERCE was Jacob WOMACK connected with one of the old & honored pioneer families of this state. NOTE: I have his parents as James F Moses Pierce and Sarah "Sary" Womack, Sarah was born Mar 11, 1827, died May 4, 1882. Her father was Jacob Womack Jr, mother Nancy Ann Bates. Her and her husband must have travelled with her brother(s) and cousins to the Russell AR area. All the Womacks in the Russell area descend from Jacob Jr or John his brother. (Note: Jacob Jr and John's brother Thomas P was my GGG-GF).
Thomas A. Towler, one of the leading farmers and traders of Richland Township, was born in Lunenburgh County, Va., in 1822, April 21, and is the son of James and Elizabeth (Averett) Towler, both natives of Lunenburgh County, Va. Mr. Towler married Miss Martha Womack, a native of Madison County, Ark., born September 15, 1847, and the daughter of John Womack, who was one of the first settlers of Arkansas.
Stephen Thomas Fair On the 22d day of March, 1868, at Center Point Church, Benton County, Ark., in the presence of a large congregation, he was united in the bonds of matrimony with Miss Agnes Julia Ann Womack, the Rev. Martin Thornsberry officiating. Mrs. Fair is the daughter of Mr. Richard and Mrs. Matilda Lee Womack, who moved from Wilson County, Tenn., in the year 1855. She was born in Wilson County, Tenn., in 1851. There have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Fair ten children, to wit: first, William Wallace, who died in infancy; second, Mary Ann; third, an infant son, deceased, without name; fourth, Ellis Hamilton; fifth. Richard Lee; sixth, Martha Edna; seventh, Stephen Thomas; eighth, Cora Ethel; ninth, Emma Vivian; tenth, Edwin Claudia.
