Generation No. 1

1.  REUBEN/RUBIN1 STEVENS/STEPHENS was born Abt. 1804 in SC, and died in AR.  He married PHEBA //.  She was born 
Abt. 1828 in NY, and died in AR.

Notes for REUBEN/RUBIN STEVENS/STEPHENS:
I have seen the last names interchanged on different things, so
have listed them both here.  The last time I saw Reuben, for sure,
was a court document naming him administrator of his son-in-law
James McDaniel in 1853..although it did not name his daughter;
it did mention everything to the widow since it was less than
$300.

Stevens Creek in White County is supposedly named after Reuben.
Per my Grandmother, Katie Jewel McDaniel, who was his great grandchild.

On the 1850 Census there was a C Stephens age 19, farmer, b. AR
and appeared to have a wife Rachel, age 22, b. AL.

Reuben is listed on the 1830 Census as follows:
Christian Twp, Independence Co, Arkansas Territory
Stephens, Reuben
2 males 0- 5
1 male 10-15
1 males 15-20
1 male 20-30

1 female 5-10 (prob Pernecia)
1 female 20-30

Note: there was a Morgan Magness age 40-50 listed as head of
household, and a Jonathan Magness as father 70-80 in this area.
I have heard my grandmother mention the name Magness as
related.

This indicates somewhere between 1835 and 1840, Reuben lost a wife.


Notes for PHEBA //:
Her age, on the 1850 White Co Ar Census, indicates she must be a second wife.
If she was 32 in 1850; a child born in 1824 would have been an impossibility
[Pernecia age 26 1850 census).

Generation No. 2

2.  PERNECIA2 STEVENS/STEPHENS (REUBEN/RUBIN1) was born Abt. 1824 in AR, and died Bef. 1860 in AR.  She married 
JAMES MCDANIEL.  He was born Abt. 1825 in AR, and died Bef. 1853 in AR.

Notes for PERNECIA STEVENS/STEPHENS:
1850 AR Census, White co AR, gives her age as 26, and her name as
Pernecia.  Previously, we had used Donesa which is close. Naturally,
the Census is the ONLY thing we have her name on at present.

Notes for JAMES MCDANIEL:
On another census later on, his son James indicates his father was bornin KY.
However, the 1850 AR census does indicate AR and I have used that as it is
the only proof.  Accordingly, the census also indicates his age at 25.
